Abstract Kaibel Divided-Wall Column (Kaibel DWC) was proposed as an innovation process to separate trichlorosilane from reduction plant in polycrystalline silicon system. Based on reliable estimates by the short-cut method, the rigorous steady-state simulation of the Kaibel DWC was obtained. The influences of TCS product and the STC product location, the liquid split ratio and the vapor split ratio were investigated. The results showed that the Kaibel DWC could save 26.43% energy consumption and reduce the equipment investment compared to the conventional direct distillate sequence.
