Simulation of Four-Product Dividing Wall Columns for the Separation of Trichlorosilane

Abstract Two four-product dividing wall columns, Kaibel Dividing Wall Column (Kaibel DWC) and fully thermally coupled Dividing Wall Column(4-DWC), were proposed as innovation process to separate trichlorosilane from reduction plant in polycrystalline silicon system. Using commercial software packages of Aspen Plus, Kaibel DWC and 4-DWC can be simulated by employing corresponding thermodynamically equivalent sequences of simple columns. Based on reliable estimates by the short-cut method, the rigorous steady-state simulation of the Kaibel DWC was obtained. The structure parameters and the operation parameters were optimized. The simulation results indicated that compared with the conventional configuration for the Kaibel DWC and 4-DWC, the energy saving were 26.43% and 36%, respectively, and the equipment investment was reduced.
