Abstract In order to solve the main problems existed in the lithium sulfur battery, a certain amount of mesoporous molecular sieve SBA-15 was added into the sulfur electrode. The physical structures of SBA-15 were determined by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and nitrogen adsorption methods, the electrochemical performance of cells were characterized by cycling tests. The results indicate that the cell with 1% SBA-15 (SCS-1.0) shows excellent electrochemical performance, the specific discharge capacity of SCS-1.0 cell was 200 mAh·g-1 higher than that of SC cell at the 300th cycle. So the addition of 1% SBA-15 is beneficial to improve the electrochemical performance of lithium sulfur batteries.
