Abstract Valganciclovir is a prodrug of Ganciclovir which has been newly developed for the treatment of cytomegalovirus(CMV) retinitis in patients with Aids.The bioavailability of oral Valganciclovir is higher than Ganciclovir while the toxicity is lower,so it has a wide market prospect.In this paper,synthetic methods of Valganciclovir were analyzed and compared with each other,and the merits and defects of each method were presented.
