Abstract Using electrodialysis technology, the high salinity and high COD wastewater was treated by polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) cation exchange membrane, SiO2/PVDF cation exchange membrane, modified SiO2/PVDF cation exchange membrane and commodity cationic membrane, respectively. Desalination experiments were performed to compare their desalting effects. Based on the data of the voltage, the flow rate, desalting time and amount of adhesive polyacrylamide, the modified SiO2/PVDF cation exchange membrane showed the higher desalting ability and anti-pollution ability than the commodity cation membrane.
