Abstract The graphite oxide was synthesized by Hummers method. Graphene oxide was prepared by sonicating the graphite oxide solution. Graphene oxide/PVDF films were fabricated by means of the evaporation method. The morphology and structural analysis were carried out by using TEM, FTIR and XRD. The tensile strength and thermal conductivity of graphene oxide/PVDF films with different content of graphene oxide were studied. The results suggest that graphene oxide has various oxygen bearing functional groups. Graphene oxide is well dispersed in PVDF matrix. And the graphene oxide in the films can improve the tensile strength and thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity increases with increasing content of graphene oxide first, and then it gradually decreases. When the content of graphene oxide is 0.4%, the thermal conductivity reaches maximum.
