1 A Study of Flooding Velocity and Characteristic Velocity in Packed Extraction Column

Flooding velocity and characteristic velocity were investigated in this work with packed column of diameter 75mm, Three systems—26.1% glyeral-kerosene, water-kerosene, water-isooctyal alcohal and three types of packing—Lesssing ring, Rasching ring and Intalox saldles were used. The experimental results show that the flooding velocity and characteristic vielocity are affected by the physical properties of systems and the characteristics of packings. The correlations of flooding velocity and characteristic velocity were obtained respectively by regression analysis. The velocities calculated by the equations obtained arc close to the experimental values with deviation within ±15%.

9 Studies on the Heat Resistant ABS Resin Prepared by Emulsion Graft—B/ending Method

The emulsion blending modification of ABS graft latices with α-MS-AN (α-methylstyrene-acrylonitrile) Copolymers were studied. A formalation for heat resistant ABS resin with good comprehensive properties was established. The compatability of two compounds and microstructaral morphology of the products were demonstrated by the DSC, PGC and TEM. Experimental results show that blending with α-MS-AN copolymer can improve the heat resistance and rigidity of the ABS resin bring down its production cost and expand its application fields,Additionally, the influences of latex particle size and rubbe contents in the ABS graft latex on tae properties of the products had alsor been investigated.

16 Present and Future of Liquid Crystalline Membranes for Gas Separation

Material selection of liquid crystalline (LC)membranes as functional gas permselective membranes is firstly summarized. The permselectivities of oxygen compared with nitrogen, of hydrocarbon isomers and of carbon dioxide are systematically reviewed. It isshown that LC membranes as oxygen enrichment membranes, as molecular filtration membranes for hydrocarbon isomers, as carbon dioxide enrichment membranes and as gas-barrier membranes will play an important role in medical field, petrochemical and packaging industries and agriculture.
