Abstract In view of the poor ability of nanoparticles to reduce the oil-water interface and emulsify in the displacement process, Janus nano-SiO2 with amphiphilic structure was successfully prepared by asymmetric modification of nano-SiO2 through pickering lotion interface protection method. Through verification, the lipophilic modifier hexadecyl trimethoxysilane was successfully introduced, and almost all of the nano-SiO2 was successfully protected by paraffin during the preparation process, and amphiphilic Janus nano-SiO2 was successfully prepared. By this method, Janus nano-SiO2 can be efficiently and simply prepared in large quantities, providing a basis for large-scale application needs in the oil field. Janus nano-SiO2 has stronger emulsifying ability and stability compared to hydrophilic and lipophilic nano-SiO2, so its oil carrying capacity is stronger. In the case of high water cut in the reservoir, the lotion droplets formed by Janus nano-SiO2 float on the water phase and can be brought out with the movement of water to improve the oil recovery of the reservoir; Janus nano-SiO2 can form a stable lotion layer at a lower concentration, which is conducive to cost saving and has application prospects in the oil field.
