Numerical Simulation on Heat Transfer Performance of Slit Split and Wavy Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchanger

Abstract Numerical simulation method was used by using FLUENT software to study the air side flow and heat transfer performance of four kinds of fin-and-tube heat exchangers, such as plain fin, plain slit fin, sine corrugated fin and uniform angle corrugated fin. The effects of corrugated fin type and slit on the heat transfer performance of heat exchangers were analyzed. Changing the inlet velocity, the relationships between heat exchanger Q, Nusselt number Nu, pressure drop △P, resistance factor f and Re were obtained. Results showed that as the increase of inlet velocity and Re, heat transfer was significantly improved, however, the energy loss was improved too. Among the four kinds of fin-and-tube heat exchanger, the slit fin had better effect on heat transfer, corrugated fin improved the thermal efficiency with relatively less increase of energy loss.
