Abstract 5-aminobenzimidazolone was prepared from 5-nitrobenzimidazolone by hydrazine hydrate reduction. This method is mild, safe and environmentally friendly. The effect of solvents on the preparation of 5-acetylacetamidobenzimidazolone was studied. When ethyl acetate was used as solvent in this reaction, 5-acetylacetamidobenzimidazolone was synthesized by the reaction of 5-amino benzimidazolone with diketene, the yield was 89.3%.
