The Determination of Trace Amount of Manganese (Ⅱ) by Catalytic Potentiometric Method with Bromophenol Blue Ion-selective Electrode

Bromophenol blue ion-selective electrode was used in catalytic potentiometric method to determine trace amount of Mn(Ⅱ). As the rcaction velocity is proportional to the concentration of Mn(Ⅱ), this electrode is used to indicate the variation of the concentration of bromophenol blue. A linear range is obtained from 2 to 40 ng/mL of Mn(Ⅱ). This method was successfully applied to determine the trace amount of Mn(Ⅱ) in nature water.

Heat Transfer in Swirl Pneumatic Flash Dryer for Starch

A mathematic formula for calculating heat transfer coefficient in swirl pneumatic flash dryer has been derived basing on the heat balance principle of a differential unit, which is a ring of swirl mass current in the dryer. The experimental relationship of Nusselt number Nu, Reynold number Re and the ratio of gas and solid loading B has also been correlated. Experiments have been performed according to orthogonalizing experimental process in a small scale swirl flash installation(Φ150mm)using corn starch as experimental material. The plots of particle size and moisture content of starch as well as the heat transfer coefficient between starch particles and hot air stream versus the height of dryer have been obtained. The data obtained have been regressed nonlinearly with electron brain and a regression equation is established asNu=-0.937+0.133Re~(0.662)-0.042Re~(-1.285)B~(-0.790)Heat transfer in the swirl pneumatic flash dryer is very uniform andthe heat transfer coefficient is greater than that in the straight flash dryer. It is affected significantly by temperature.

Cracking Kinetics of Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether on Activated Carbon Catalyst
Gao Chong Luo Zhongyu Wang Shuqing
Under normal pressure and 265~295℃, the kinetics of cracking methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) into isobutene on activated Carbon catalyst was studied. Results show that the reaction is controlled by irreversible surface reaction which implies the adsorbed MTBE cracked into unadsorbed product. The kinetic equation is:(-r_A)=κP_A/(1+κ_AP_A)where κ=2.6167×10~9exp(-1.473×10~2/RT)κ_A=8.6829×10~6exp(-1.1661×10~2/RT)
