Abstract Under normal pressure and 265~295℃, the kinetics of cracking methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) into isobutene on activated Carbon catalyst was studied. Results show that the reaction is controlled by irreversible surface reaction which implies the adsorbed MTBE cracked into unadsorbed product. The kinetic equation is:(-r_A)=κP_A/(1+κ_AP_A)where κ=2.6167×10~9exp(-1.473×10~2/RT)κ_A=8.6829×10~6exp(-1.1661×10~2/RT)
