Abstract In vertical heated tube, the heat transfer of gas-liquid two phase flow is a lather complicated heat transfer process which includes various flow patterns i. e. one phase flow, bubble flow, slug flow churn flow, and annular flow. A pecial experimental equipment was used in this work. Water and its vapor were used in this system as working medium. The heat transfer for various flow patterns were discussed. The effects of mass flux, heat flux and vapor quality on heat transfer were studied. The form of film was investigated. J. C. Chen's additive mechanism model was used to calculate and analyse the performance of heat transfer under various conditions.
