Abstract Immunomagetic bead(IMB)is a kind of new material which is developed from immunology and magnetic micro-carrier technology.Immunomagnetic separation is widely used in the field of cytology,immunology and molecular biology for its high efficiency,effectiveness,low toxicity and simple manipulation.This article briefly introduces the structure,property,current situation of the preparation of IMB,immunomagnetic separation's mechanism and characteristics.At the same time,some practical applications of IMB such as the separation and purification of cells,expansion in vitro ,immunosorbent assay,nucleic acid and genetic engineering,HLA typing and drug targeting are presented in detail.
