Abstract There are some technical difficulties in the industrial synthesis of 1,3,5-benzenetriol,a costly important intermediate.Research progress of the synthesis was reviewed,followed by the analysis of yield,technology and industrial feasibility.Several industrial technology routes using cumene/benezene,2,4,6-trinitrotoluene,chlorobenzene and aniline respectively as a resource to produce 1,3,5-benzenetriol were recommended.
