Abstract The cathode material LiCo_(1/3)Ni_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2 for lithium ion battery was prepared by both solid-phase method and the deposition method.The influences of the synthesis temperature and synthesis method on the electrochemical behaviors of LiCo_(1/3)Ni_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2 were also analyzed.Its structure and electrochemical behavior were characterized and measured by virtue of constant-current charge-discharge and cyclic valtommetry tests.The results show that LiCo_(1/3)Ni_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2 obtained by solid-phase method at 900 �� was better and that obtained by the deposition method was the best. The first specific discharging capacity was 576.0 C/g at 10.0 mA/g discharge current,510.5 C/g after 50 charging-discharging cycles,439.2 C/g when discharging at 100.0 mA/g discharge current.
