Abstract Airlift loop reactors(ALRs) have been widely used in industry,so the investigation of ALRs is very important for their design and scale-up.The effects of operating conditions,such as superficial gas velocity,liquid properties,system pressure,reactor size,on the behavior of ALRs were discussed and the measuring methods for the reactor behavior were introduced,also their deficiency was pointed out.The mathematical models of flow behavior,mixing and mass transfer in ALRs were reviewed.
