Abstract Slurry circulating velocity,as a key hydromechanical parameter,play an important role in the liquid flowing and mass transfering between phases.Based on the effects of operating conditions and physical properties of the experiments on the slurry circulating velocity,an emperical momentum balance model was proposed to calculate the slurry circulating velocity.According to the principle of monentum conservation,a calculation model was created to forecast the local resistance coefficient of the gas-slurry separator on the top of the airlift external-loop slurry reactor.The experimental results were in good agreement with the modelling results.
