Abstract Nb-SBA-15 catalyst was synthesized by the impregnation method with mesoporous sieve SBA-15 as carrier. The samples were characterized by XRD, BET and TG/DTA. Nb-SBA-15 catalyst and its catalytic activity in the synthesis of 2, 4-di-tert-butylphenol were studied. The alkylation reaction condition was analyzed. The experimental results indicated that, Nb-SBA-15 has better catalytic activity and better stability in the reaction of 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol. The optimum alkylation reaction conditions are as follows: the load capacity of Nb 15%,reaction temperature 160 ℃, mole ratio of MTBE and phenol 2∶1, reaction time 4.0 h, catalyst is 4.55% for raw material.
