Abstract Biodiesel production with supercritical methanol has its special advantages and has been a research focus since it was first put forward. The latest research on kinetics of biodiesel production with supercritical methanol, including reaction mechanism model, rate constant and activation energy,were discussed and reviewed to elucidate the reaction mechanism.The kinetics of biodiesel production with two-step supercritical fluid process were also introduced, and the advantages, disadvantages and developing tendency of this technology for biodiesel production were also proposed.
