Abstract A brief review is given on the recent development of semi- empirical molecular thermodynamic type equation of state which is developed with the aid of perturbation theory and integral equation theory and on its applications in calculation of thermodynamic properties and fluid phase equilibria of electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions.
