Abstract Based on the kinetics model of particle flow by Nedderman, the particle velocity profile in a moving bed was established and the effects of the wall friction angle and the half angle of hoppers on the so called critical height was established and analyzed by derivation equations in order to supply instructions for minimizing the critical height.
