Abstract Taking the advantage of Dn-saturation optimum experiment, factors influencing mechanical strength of Fe-based WGSR (water gas shift reaction) catalyst during calcination process have been researched. A second order relationship between mechanical strength and calcination operation parameters has been set up. Results show that those parameters such as temperature, water content, heating rate and calcination time have strong effects on average strength and its reliability of the catalysts. The experimental results have been discussed.
