Abstract Porosity distribution was measured in a two-dimensional fluidized bed with a jet by PC-4 fiber optic probe.There was a region of maximum porosity at a level 2.5cm~7. 5cm above jet inlet. Expeiments proved that static height and nozzle diameter had some effects on porosity distribution. Based on voidage distribution, the penetration depth was defined and calcutated, and the results accorded with the penetration depth from the Yang's correlation.
