Abstract Bed expansion and minimum fluidization velocity in vibrated fluidized bed were investigated. The effects of particle properties, vibrational parameters and static bed height on fluidized bed expansion and minimum fluidization velocity were presented. According to the experimental results of 13 kinds of particles in different vibrating conditions,an empirical correlation for predicting the ratio of minimum fluidization velocities under vibration and no-vibration conditions (Umv/Umf) ,which is useful for designing of the vibrated fluidied bed was proposed.
