Abstract New process for the preparation of FeSO4·7H2O by sulfuric acid from iron mud of industry waste was studied. The process included acid-leaching, reduction and pH adjusting. Effects of pH and ethanol amount on crystallization rate and purity of product were investigated emphatically. Moreover, the influences of temperature and the initial concentration of ferrous sulfate were also discussed. Results showed that crystallization rate could reach 95% when volume ratio of water to ethanol was 1∶1.5, the initial concentration of ferrous sulfate was 1.41 mol/L and crystallization time was 20 minutes. The prepared FeSO4 .7H2O can meet the requirement of China Chemical Industry Standard HG/T2935-2000.
