Abstract Preventing agglomeration of particles is the most important problem in the preparation of the nanometer powders by means of sol gel method. The causes of agglomeration for particles were analyzed,and several methods for preparation of free agglomeration nanometer powders were disscused in this paper. Ultrasonic technique was newly proposed to be applied in the sol gel process to avoid the formation of agglomeration.
