Abstract A new process that industrial nitric acid reacts with iron chippings and shavings to produce ferrous nitrate solution is presented. Furthermore, to prepare new type Fe Cr system high temperature shift conversion catalyst is also provided using obtained solution. All samples obtained catalysts are examined. The results show that all kinds of properties are in accord to or surpass with criterion of the Chemical Engineering Department. Moreover, the running situations of prepared new type catalysis on industrial scale in the water shift conversion reactor are very perfect.
