Abstract A kind of rheology controller-Hydrophobically Modified Polyurethane (HEUR) was introduced. Effect of HEUR on the mobility of latex and pigment particles was studied respectively by Zeta Potential Analyzer. Rheology behavior of the latex system thickened with HEUR was determined by Rheometrics. The results indicated that association between latex particles and HEUR exists. This association can be destroyed under low stress rate, then recovered. So the system containing HEUR can achieve good leveling and antisagging properties.
