Abstract Self-assembly properties of surfactants play important roles in the biomimetic synthesis, which used surfactants as templates. The mixed surfactants exhibit many novel features which have important theoretical and applied interest. It is time-consuming and highly expensive to determine the optimal self-assembles from surfactants mixtures only through experimental observations. In this article,a model for self-assembly of an ionic-nonionic mixed surfactant is established based on thermodynamic principles, which involves free energy changes of micelle mixtures. In comparison with references data and experiment results,it is indicated that the esablished model can used to well estimate the regulations of the mixed ionic-nonionic system, such as the mixed CMC,the micelle compositions and so on.
