Abstract Influence of the pretreatment in surfaces of supports on synthesis of zeolite beta membranes is enormous.The hydrofluoric acid and sodium hydroxide with different concentrations are used to treat various silicon-aluminum ceramic supports chemically in this paper. A series of conclusions are drawn:it takes one hour to treat surfaces of supports in 110 degrees centigrade and it does five minutes to treat surfaces of supports in 25 degrees centigrade.This is the optimal treatment condition.
