Abstract A real-time holographic interferometer specially designed for measuring liquid diffusion coefficients was described.Using the interferometer,the distinct real-time interference fringes indicating the concentration profiles of the liquid were obtained,the liquid diffusion coefficient was directly measured from the interferograms by finite fringe system intentionally introduced to the interferometer.The diffusion coefficients of carbon dioxide in ethanol and n-propanol were measured by this method,and the results are closed to theoretical values.This method with real-time,accuracy,simpleness and promptness will have good prospect in measuring liquid diffusion coefficient.
