Abstract A rigorous model with energy balance for adjusting vapor flow-rate and with component balance for modifying plate temperature has been used to simulate the process of batch distillation.Typical MESH equations are solved with the method of implicit integral matrix combined with �� convergence;UNIFAC equation is adopted for calculation of vapor-liquid equilibrium.The experimental result of the separation of tetrahydrofuran from ethyl acetate has indicated that this model is accurate and the numerical method is reliable.Furthermore,optimal operation parameters are gained for the separation of this system.
