Abstract The effluent of pharmaceutical wastewater containing antibiotic by conventional biological treatments is hard to reach the industry discharge standard.The treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater containing antibiotic was performed by both photocatalysis oxidation and chlorine oxidation.The effects of the parameters during these processes,such as irradiation time,aerating condition,initial pH value and chlorine dosage,were investigated.Experimental results indicated that both of the chemical oxidation methods can remove organic substance effectively and the effluent COD could reach the Ⅱ-class criteria specified in Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard(GB8978-1996).
