Abstract The preparation of antioxidant 2246 [2,2′-methylenebis-(4-methyl-6-tertiary butyl phenol)] with 2-tertiary butyl-4-methylphenol and methylal was investigated.Several kinds of solid acid catalysts including NKC-9,001×7,SO~(2-)_4/TiO_2,DNW-1,were chosen for the synthetic process.NKC-9 and DNW-1 which have high catalytic efficiency were mainly studied.The effects of catalyst amount,reaction time,temperature,the ratio of material on the yield and purity of the product were discussed,and the suitable process was determined to obtain product with high yield and purity.
