Abstract The sulfides(mainly benzothiophenes) in FCC diesel fuel has been oxidized to sulfones with H_2O_2-formic acid as oxidant by using power ultrasound.The effects of time and ratio of oil to oxidant,oxidation temperature,reaction time,extraction time,ratio of extractant to oil,extraction times on the desulfurization were investigated.Under the optimal condition,the removal efficiency of sulfur compounds can amount to 94.2%and the recovery of product is above 90%.
