Abstract Methods of removing carbonyl sulfide,including reduction, hydrolysis, absorption, adsorption, photolysis, oxidation, etc, were reviewed and the research trends were prospected in this paper. It was indicated that development of multi-element catalysts via mixing ZrO_2, TiO_2, Al_2O_3 and introducing assistants such as iron to reduce the catalyst surface hydrophilic of catalysts and thus reduce the extents of deactivation maybe the new aspect in COS removal.
