Abstract There are many factors influencing the descaling of calcium carbonate under alternating magnetic field. To investigate the effect of different technological factors on calcium carbonate scaling under magnetic field, the saturated calcium carbonate solution was magnetized by orthogonal method. The results showed that the magnetizing time and the initial calcium ion concentration are the most notable factors affecting the conductivity of magnetized solution. When the magnetizing time was 0.5 h, the current frequency was 0.6 kHz, the coil turns were 100, the c0 (Ca2+) was 1 000 mg/L, and the waveform was square wave, the average conductivity of the magnetized solution was 1.474 mS/cm under this condition. Compared with the unmagnetized calcium carbonate solution, its conductivity increased by 0.147 mS/cm and increased by 11.45 percentage points. It means good scale descaling effect. The mathematical model of magnetic descaling effect established by regression analysis method can provide a theoretical basis for improving the efficiency of magnetic descaling of pipelines, and has important reference significance for descaling of cooling water system.
