Abstract 

A novel interfacial polymerization method was proposed for selective reparation of ZSM-5 zeolite membranes. Trimesoyl chloride(TMC) and m-phenylenediamine(MPDA) would be contacted at the defect areas on the membrane surface, leading to the formation of porous and hydrophilic materials by polymerization. After reparation, the defects concentrated below 0.6 nm were in the microporous scale and smaller than 1.0 nm. The separation factor for 5% C2H5OH/H2O was increased from 1.1 to 16.0 with the permeation flux of 1.0 kg/(m2·h) and higher.
