Abstract

The corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy in seawater was studied using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. It was found that the corrosion current density decreased, charge transfer resistance and resistance of passivation film increased with the increase of pH and the decreases of the temperature, the salinity and the dissolved oxygen. The corrosion depth of the aluminum alloy was as low as 0.0226 mm·a-1 at the condition of 80 ℃ and 0.01 mg·L-1 of dissolved oxygen. Under certain operating circumstances, the aluminum alloy can be applied in the low-temperature desalination units.
