Abstract The process of extraction of polyphenols with supercritical carbon dioxide and the entrainer from Camellia oleifera Abel seeds was studied. The effects of extraction temperature, extraction pressure, entrainer concentration, flow rate of the entrainer and extraction time on polyphenol extraction yield were studied with single factor experiments. The polyphenol extraction yield reached 1.26% under the optimal extraction conditions of extraction temperature 55 ℃, extraction pressure 30 MPa, 75% ethanol aqueous solution as the entrainer, the flow rate of the entrainer 1.5 mL/min and extraction time 1.5 h. The study suggests that supercritical fluid extraction technology of polyphenols from Camellia oleifera Abel seeds has advantages of simple steps, few solvent usage, high extraction yield and short production period.
