Abstract In order to research the influence of holes and layers on the performance of gauze packing, the hydrodynamic performance of four different kinds of gauze packing (one layer without holes, two layers without holes, one layer with holes, two layers with holes) were measured. The hydrodynamic performance parameters including pressure drop for dry and wet packing, flood velocity, and liquid hold-up which were determined in a Plexiglas tower of 100 mm internal diameter. The experimental results show the gauze packing with two layers and holes has the best hydrodynamic performance. |
