Abstract A novel mesoporous silica material have been synthesized by self-assembly route.Subsequently,the modification of the material with metal ions was performed.X-ray diffraction,N2 adsorptiondesorption isotherms and so on were employed to characterize the mesoporous materials.The characterization results indicated that the resultant mesoporous nanocomposites could keep mesoporous structure properties well and the active species could fully disperse on the channel surface of the host.The esterification reaction of stearic acid and glycerol was employed as a probe reaction to evaluate the catalytic performance of the mesoporous material.The results suggested the modified mesoporous material exhibited good performance in this reaction.
