Abstract The latest research progress in supercritical fluid technology for biodiesel production was reviewed. The reaction mechanism and kinetics, and the influence of operation conditions, water and free fatty acids in raw materials, cosolvents and additional catalysts on transesterification reaction were introduced. The advantages, disadvantages, and developing tendency of supercritical fluid technology for biodiesel production were also advanced.
