Abstract A new shock wave reactor for carrying out gas phase pyrolysis has many advantages.In the reactor,the inert carrier gas and the feedstock gas are heated respectively,and then mixed supersonicly.The temperature of the mixture then instantaneously rises to pyrolysis temperature through the shock wave and the products are obtained,a simulation of ethane pyrolysis using the SWR predicts a 20% increase in ethylene yield and a 15% decrease in energy consumption compared with conventional reactors. |
