A New Airlift Loop Reactor Applied in Oil Dewaxing by Microorganisms

Abstract A new airlift loop reactor(ALLR) was introduced in this paper. The correlation among liquid phase flowing model, gas holdup and operating conditions of this reactor was investigated. A 100m 3 bubble column reactor was changed into an ALLR of three external loop pipes with the principle of enhancing mass transferring and mixing of ALLR. THe fermentative results showed that the dewaxing period of ALLR was shortened by about 4 times than that of bubble column reactor and the power consumption of ALLR was decreased by 30% of that of bubble column reactor.
