Abstract This paper studies a process of preparing 2\|methylpyrazine by vapor\|gas phase heterogeneous catalytic reation of ethylenediamine with propylene glycol. The effects of active components,the ratio of active components,carriers and calcined temperature,are investigated systematically. The effective and selective catalyst is prepared by impregnation of Zn\|Mn\|Cr nitrates on the charcoal with the ratio of 2��2��1 by weight. The catalyst is used at 360�� and the yield is 86.7%.
