Abstract Epichlorohydrin is an important chemical intermediate with wide and prosperous application. In this paper, the recent progress in the synthesis of epichlorohydrin by direct epoxidation of allyl chloride catalyzed by TiO_2/SiO_2,TS-1 and the modified TS-1 catalysts is introduced. The features and prospect of the different processes are discussed. The difficulties in the research of direct allyl chloride oxidation and the developing trend are pointed out.
