Abstract Based on the population balance,a model for simulating practical industrial crystallizers with 5 stages for m-phthalic acid continuous crystallization from aqueous solution at high temperature has been developed. The crystallization kinetic parameters have been estimated by fitting the measured data.Using the model with these parameters, the crystal size distribution(CSD)of the product has been predicted, and the effect of operating conditions on CSD has been discussed.
