Abstract The characteristic of alkyl polyglycosides(APG),a new kind of surfactant,was introduced.Progress in the synthesis of APG were summarized,such as improvement of technology,treatment of product,selection of catalyst,degradation,mechanics,kinetics and phase behavior of the product,etc.The difference of improvement in APG between China and the others was pointed out.It's important to develop multifunctional APG with good appearance,smell and color.And more attention should be paid to enlarging the production scale and improving the product quality.
